About the Artwork
Nefertiti was the Great Royal Wife of the pharaoh Akhenaten, reigning in the 14th century BCE during one of the most radical periods of Egyptian history. Her name means "the beautiful one has come," and the famous painted bust of her — discovered in 1912 — made her an enduring symbol of grace and power. This design pairs her iconic profile with the lotus, the sun disk, and columns of hieroglyphs in the style of New Kingdom tomb painting.
