About the Artwork
Ramses II (Usermaatre Setepenre), who reigned roughly 1279–1213 BCE, is remembered as Egypt's greatest pharaoh — a military commander, a prolific builder of temples and cities, and the architect of the first known peace treaty in history. This design honors him as warrior, builder, and diplomat, with his monumental statue at the center and his cartouche and monuments worked into the border.
