Luc Olivier Merson (1846-1920) was a French academic painter known for his historical and allegorical subjects. His "Allegory of Time" uses soft tones and fluid composition to personify an abstract concept -- something Merson did better than most painters of his generation. His work deserves wider recognition outside of French art circles.
